New York State Health Accountability Foundation

IPRO and the New York Business Group on Health, New York's leading forum for health policy and information, are co-founders of The New York State Health Accountability Foundation. The Foundation is a public-private partnership dedicated to promoting transparency in the health care system and providing employers and consumers with reliable, independent information on health care cost and quality.

The Foundation is led by an advisory council of employer representatives drawn from major metropolitan-area corporations and government agencies, and is funded by grants from the New York State Legislature.

The Foundation's initiatives focus on providing consumers with timely information on health care quality, access and consumer satisfaction; promoting value-based health care purchasing; and providing the health care community with "best practices" information.

The Foundation's Web site, abouthealthquality.org, organizes and highlights resources designed to assist consumers in making health care decisions based on quality. Featured on the Web site is the Foundation's New York State Health Plan Report Card, which presents independently validated quality and cost data for New York State hospitals and commerical managed care plans.
