Sr. Data Analyst - Managed Care
This individual supports managed care reviews and special projects by assisting in the design of quality improvement studies, analyzing data, and writing reports. Implements studies and coordinates the resources needed. (Reports for studies include small- and large-scale research, audit and encounter data reports.) Responsible for conducting a variety of data validation activities, including validation of encounter data and self-reported HEDIS (and similar) indicators. Coordinates the design and acquisition of new software applications/databases to enhance department productivity and participates in departmental workgroups to improve the efficiency of review and analysis processes. Plays a key role in coordinating workgroups to design QI studies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, clients and staff.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to prepare cogent analyses using a variety of statistical, spreadsheet, graphic and database programs.
- Strong computer skills with experience in various software packages (MS Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint. Experience with SAS preferred.)
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and client deliverables.
- Ability to coordinate workgroups to design quality improvement and other health care studies.
- Ability to handle all stages in the full cycle of a research project.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical, research or health-related field required or equivalent experience. A Master's degree in public administration, policy, health or related social science with course work in statistical and process analysis preferred.
- A minimum of two years' of related experience required.
- Experience in a managed care environment, with some experience in quality management preferred.
